In this episode, host Zandrina Dunning sat down with award-winning filmmaker and AfroSouth Film Festival President Jason Gourdine for a conversation about filmmaking, purpose, representation, and what happens when you decide to create the spaces you want to see.
Jason’s journey was rooted right here in South Carolina, from creating films such as Enter the Dominion and Vesey’s Resistance, to becoming an advocate and leader for filmmakers throughout the region.
And, of course, they talked AfroSouth. The AfroSouth Film Festival returns October 9–11, and the episode gave listeners a preview of what’s ahead, including the films, filmmakers, conversations, fashion, community and experiences that make this festival so special.
Having had the opportunity to work alongside the AfroSouth team both last year and this year, Zandrina was especially excited for this conversation, and for what’s coming in October.
