Charleston native Stephen Washington is a multi-talented piano virtuoso whose musical journey began at age 5 on drums and transitioned to piano by age 9. By 11, he was playing at his father’s church, setting the stage for a career that has taken him around the world.
Though rooted in Gospel, Stephen’s influences span genres like Country, Hip Hop, and ’80s Rock. He has performed alongside renowned artists such as Cee Cee Winans, Travis Greene, and Hootie & the Blowfish.
In 2018, Stephen joined The ZD Experience as Creative Director and co-producer, helping to craft powerful tribute shows to legends like Aretha Franklin and Pink Floyd—the latter featured in Piccolo Spoleto 2023 and performed before an audience of nearly 2,500.
Stephen’s 2023–2024 run of Steve’s House on Ohm Radio (96.3FM) offered a vibrant platform for artists like Grammy Award-winner Charlton Singleton, laying the foundation for his evolving work in media and storytelling.
He currently produces The ZD Experience and recently co-hosted TEDx Charleston 2025 alongside Zandrina Dunning.
Beyond music, Stephen is a skilled graphic artist with plans to launch his own apparel line. He also serves as Musical Director for Quiana Parler (of Ranky Tanky) and her band, and performs with artists such as Elise Testone, BlackNoyze, and The Andy Masker Band.
Stephen believes, “Music has the ability to make people communicate without speaking. It’s its own language that is understood by everyone.”
